Monon Greenway Tunnel to Close for Repairs and Mural Installation
April 13, 2021 (Carmel, Ind.) — On or after April 19, the Monon Greenway tunnel under City Center Drive/126th Street will be closed. During this time, Monon Greenway traffic will be detoured west to 3rd Avenue Southwest (map below).
The closure is estimated to last 5-6 weeks, with the Monon Greenway reopening in time for the International Making Cities Livable Conference starting on June 8. This closure will allow CCPR to perform maintenance on the tunnel including power washing, crack repair, hole patching, and painting with anti-graffiti primer.
Following the completion of regular maintenance, students from Carmel High School will paint a mural with a whimsical music theme, playing off the world-class music performed at the Center for the Performing Arts.
