Carmel, Ind. (Oct. 10, 2024) –– Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) was awarded reaccreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) at this year’s National Recreation and Park Association Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
CAPRA requires reaccreditation every five years. This demonstrates CCPR’s dedication to providing the community the highest level of service.
“Achieving reaccreditation is a testament to our commitment of excellence and continuous improvement. It reflects our dedication to meeting the highest standards in the industry, ensuring that we provide exceptional services, programming, and spaces that enhance the quality of life for our community,” said Michael Klitzing, Director of Parks and Recreation/CEO. “Reaccreditation reinforces our promise to accountability, transparency, and innovation, and it ensures we are operating efficiently while creating lasting positive impacts for all who engage with our department.”
CCPR first achieved national accreditation in 2014, joining an elite group of park and recreation agencies committed to the highest standards of excellence. Only three park departments in Indiana are accredited and 206 across the United States. CCPR will celebrate this accomplishment with a banner unveiling on October 22nd in the Monon Community Center gymnasium.
CCPR is nationally accredited, employs 500+ people, and serves 17 million visitors annually. CCPR has also received national, regional, and state awards for the design of its parks and facilities, outstanding programs, excellence in providing services to people with disabilities, and commitment to environmental stewardship.
