Your Child’s Adventure Awaits in Summer Camp!

by

Planning your child’s summer activities can be overwhelming. So much to do, so little time! Carmel Clay Parks &Picture 027_edit Recreation is here to help by offering two different formats (including full day camps and half day camps) so you can choose the format that is the best fit for your child.

Recreational Half Day Camp opportunities include weekly offerings for ages 4-10. Various themed half day camps run from June 6-August 5 at the Monon Community Center where children will learn and play in both indoor and outdoor classrooms, taking in nature at its best.

Now that you’re up to speed our exciting half day exciting opportunities, let’s talk about who your child will spend time learning from! Our two phenomenal Half-Day Camp Instructors combined have over 40 years of experience to share with campers:

367Karen LaMere, CCPR’s Resident Naturalist, has a B.A. in Biology from Olivet College and an M.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife with an emphasis in Environmental Education from Michigan State University. She has over thirty years of experience as a Naturalist, Park Manager, Nature Center Director, and Interpretive Planner. She is also an Eco Tour Director and has lead trips both nationally and internationally.

Jim Drouin, CCPR’s Nature Instructor, brings a wealth of knowledge to our camps.  Not only has he taught general education for Elementary, Middle School, and High School classes as a permanent Substitute Teacher, but he has also been a Lead Teacher and Instructional Assistant for students with disabilities. The majority of his work experience includes natural resource management, natural resource conservation, and environmental education, but has also worked as an instructor at a residential summer camp. He has a B. A. from IUPUI in Geography, and is currently finishing up his Master’s degree from Butler University in History.DSC_0258
