If you’re anything like me, you spent most of your warm summer days outside, playing at The Waterpark and swimming your cares away. Well, (I’m sure you don’t need to be reminded…) those summer days are history. Winter is here!
This might sound like a strange time to be talking about swimming lessons, but believe me this is the BEST time to get (or keep) your little ones comfortable in the water. Children who are very young and have just learned to swim may forget all those skills by the time summer 2016 rolls in. Winter swim lessons will keep them feeling comfortable in the pool. Or, if you have kids who’ve still not conquered the water, you can have them swimming safely and confidently before the excitement of opening day at The Waterpark. You’ll find that swim lessons in the winter lead to stress-free spring breaks and summers. You will have peace of mind knowing that when your kids are in the pool, they will be able to recover from falling into the water, float if they get tired, and know how to be safe around a pool or beach.
You might be thinking, “But it’s so cold outside!” Luckily, the Monon Community Center’s heated indoor pool has warm water and air. It’s like a mini tropical vacation every time you go to swim lessons! (Okay so that might be a slight exaggeration. But you get my drift. It’s warm.) When swim lessons are over, just dry their hair (or wrap it up in a dry towel) and bundle them up before heading home. PRESTO! You’re good to go.
Believe it or not, Spring Break 2016 is ONLY a few months away! You know those months will fly by. You’ll be buying flip-flops and sunscreen before you know it. (Wishful thinking? Hey, someone’s got to stay positive through the Indiana winter.) If you already have a list forming of things that need to be done before your vacation, getting your kids in swimming lessons should be at the top of the list. The swim instructors at the MCC are fantastic and are wonderful at helping kids make progress that’s appropriate for their ability and age.
There is really no better time than the present. Get your children signed up for swim lessons this winter at the MCC!
