Did you know that Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) hosts a 2-star table tennis tournament every year at the Monon Community Center?
The USATT sanctioned MCC Spring Open will be held on Saturday, February 21. Not only does it bring in ranked players from all over the Midwest, but it allows MCC members and Carmel residents alike an opportunity to either compete against or watch some of the Midwest’s best ranked players! This opportunity offers participants a chance to play in one of only three sanctioned tournaments in the state, and the only USATT sanctioned 2-star tournament in Indiana! The MCC serves as a perfect venue to host this type of tournament, and the City of Carmel promises visitors unique restaurants and shopping during their stay. Prior tournament participants have stood on the opposite side of the table from Danny Seemiller, the former US Table Tennis team captain and US National Champion, as well as Carmel’s very own Robert Luo, the current state champion in Singles and Doubles. CCPR is proud to have a top-ranked player, Dave Stout, on-staff. Dave is the heart and soul of the MCC Table Tennis Club and also assists in tournament planning. He enjoys playing in a variety of tournaments, including the MCC Opens. A Carmel resident himself, Dave is proud to have a sanctioned tournament that showcases the city he calls home.
Registrations are currently being accepted for the MCC SpringOpen, and are appreciated by 2/13. Winter/Spring sessions for the MCC Table Tennis Club are currently underway at the MCC, and are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm-9:30pm, and Saturday afternoons from 10:00am-1:00pm. The drop- in fee is only $5. Please visit http://carmelclayparks.com/ccpr-events/mcc-springopen/ or call (317) 843- 3861 for more information on these and other opportunities!
